Mainland China has been reported first case of monkey pox on Friday. A 29 year old from abroad flew into the city of Chongquin carried the disease back too. It was detected during the Covid19 quarantine period.
‘The risk of transmission is low because person was in isolation and close contacts have been isolated as well’ said by Chinese officials. Suspected people in close contact are under medical observation now officials added.
Officials said people to avoid skin-to-skin contact with foreigners/ travelers who’s returned from abroad in last three weeks. Chinese center for disease control and prevention circulated post on social media Weibo.
People questioned why foreigners in China many of whom are long-term residents and haven’t left the country in years due to Covid19 restrictions were considered more dangerous than locals. The foreign citizens are upset that now they are looked upon the suspicion. Same way others treated people of Chinese heritage were when Covid19 broke out.
