Some claim that a restful night’s sleep leaves them feeling rejuvenated when they awaken. Sleep deprivation can harm both mental and physical health. The majority of people who experience sleep problems frequently turn to medication without any relief. But according to a recent study, getting some activity can help you get a decent night’s sleep.
The investigation was conducted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Myoclinic Proceedings, a medical publication, has published the findings. The Trøndelag Health Survey, regarded as Norway’s largest data set, provided the information used in the study.
Since 1984, the Trondelag Health Survey has collected health information from Trondheim, Norway. The aforementioned information aids the researchers in determining how people’s health changed during this time. Participants in the 2006–2008 study were followed up with until January 2018. The study period saw the use of sleeping medications by about 5,800 people. The majority of the subjects—17%—had severe sleeplessness and required medicine, according to the researchers. The study found that those who did not forego exercise appeared to experience less sleep deprivation.
The study found that persons who exercised and kept up their health were less likely to need medication for sleep deprivation, according to Linda Arnsen, an associate professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Additionally, it was discovered that males, as opposed to women, benefited more from exercise for sleep issues.
