Ivan Vukomanovic’s boys won the first match of the Indian Super League season in front of fans cheering for Kerala Blasters FC. Kerala Blasters beat East Bengal for 3-1 on the strength of Ukrainian star player Ivan’s 2 goals in the match held at the Kaloor stadium, Kochi.
The first half ended in a goalless draw but the game caught fire in the second half. Kerala Blasters attacked East Bengal with aggressive moves and 72nd minutes Adrian Luna scored from Kabra’s assist.
Ukrainian midfielder Ivan, who made his debut in the Kerala Blasters team scored a solo goal and increasing lead to two. But when match entered the final stages, Alex Lima scored a goal for East Bengal, butt Ivan again scored a stunning goal to seal the match for 3-1.
Kerala Blasters fans were celebrating the ninth season which was coming after 2 seasons at Kaloor stadium. The stadium turned into ocean of yellow and filled to capacity. Kerala Blasters fans stood with team in full support with shouts and cheers.
