Due to concerns that 5G signals will impact flying services, the central government has enacted special restrictions. There will be a suggestion to move 5G infrastructure and weaken signal near airports. So, for the time being, only certain residential areas close to airports will be able to enjoy 5G services.
The interference that 5G signals can create on an aircraft’s altimeter is what prompted the limitation. The strategy is being developed collaboratively by the ministries of telecom and aviation. Soon, the Center will release instructions in this regard.
According to sources, the Department of Telecommunications has sent letters to Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea outlining limits on installing 5G close to airports.
There is fear across the globe that altimeter and 5G signals will obstruct flying services. Concerns about 5G transmissions interfering with altimeter signals have been raised by the Federation of Indian Pilots and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
